Staffing briefs that survive a noisy Friday
2025-01-21 · Sora Ahn
Briefs fail when they try to be encyclopedic. We design a single page with color bands for roles, a bold escalation phone order, and three forbidden moves—like leaving the sealed table unattended.
Friday noise means people skim. We use short verbs and physical printouts even when PDFs exist. Paper gets annotated in real time; phones disappear into pockets.
We also include a micro-FAQ for weird guest questions so staff do not invent answers about allergens or promos.
After the shift, we collect scribbles and fold them into the recap. Those marginal notes are often the most valuable signals.
